Make an enquiryRenting a car to drive rideshare
If you want to drive for Uber or DiDi but do not have a suitable car, or your own car is off the road, renting by the week lets you start earning without buying a car. When you enquire, tell us which platforms you drive for. We confirm that the car suits them and set up the rental for rideshare use.
Weekly rental keeps the commitment short while you work out how many hours you will drive. If you settle in, ask about the monthly rate for the same car.
Uber vehicle requirements in Sydney
Uber publishes its own vehicle rules for Sydney. For UberX, Uber says the car must be 15 years old or less by year of manufacture, have 4 doors, seat 4 to 7 passengers plus the driver, be ANCAP 5-star rated, be able to pass a pink slip inspection, and be registered and CTP-insured in NSW. Uber also says UberX drivers must be listed on the car's property damage insurance policy, even if they do not own the car.
Each car page shows the car's year, body and seats. Tell us which Uber or DiDi product you plan to drive and we check the car against it before the rental starts. Platform rules change, so check the current requirements on Uber's or DiDi's own website too.
What we confirm before you commit
Before any rideshare rental starts we confirm in writing the car, the dates, the weekly rate, the bond, any kilometre allowance, and the insurance arrangements for rideshare use, including how you are named on the policy. You know the full cost before you pick up the car.
What to have ready
Your driver licence details, the platforms you drive for or plan to join, your preferred start date and how long you expect to need the car. If you have not yet been approved by Uber or DiDi, say so: we can tell you what the car side of the process needs.
NSW requires rideshare drivers to hold an unrestricted Australian licence, so an overseas licence does not qualify for rideshare work. Our guide to renting a car for Uber explains the driver and vehicle rules in full.
Common questions
Can I use the car for both Uber and DiDi?
Tell us every platform you plan to drive for when you enquire. We confirm the car suits each of them and set up the rental for that use.
How much does a rideshare rental cost per week?
Each car page shows the weekly rate we have set for that car. Any bond or other costs are confirmed in writing before you commit.
Is insurance arranged for rideshare use?
Insurance for rideshare use, including how you are named on the policy as Uber requires, is confirmed in writing for the car you choose before the rental starts.
Is there a kilometre limit?
Any kilometre allowance depends on the car and is confirmed in writing when you enquire. Rideshare driving adds up quickly, so ask before you commit.
Can I also do food delivery in the car?
Yes. Our cars can be rented for food delivery work too. Mention it when you enquire.
